Hi Rhys, Just a short note to say a BIG thanks for taking us on our safari on the 21st and 22nd of November, we all enjoyed it very much and your attention to detail was very impressive. Now that we are back in the UK and have seen our video, have relived all that you showed us and have showed family and friends who loved it. As this was our first trip to South Africa and first Safari has left us saying we want to come back and hope to meet up with you again one day. Thank you again.

Jozini Dam

jozini1

The Jozini Dam lies in between the majestic Ubombo and Lebombo mountains on the Elephant Coast and covers over 16 000 ha. It was originally designed to irrigate over 80 000 ha of farm land supporting products such as sugarcane, rice, coffee and various sub-tropical fruits. Many have compared it to Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe and it is fast becoming the Mecca of many wild game seekers as farmers convert vast tracts of land around the dam back to their virgin bush in the bid to realise a dream to return this area to its former wild life kingdom.

Lake Jozini, as the dam is now called, has become very popular as a Tiger fishing destination and because the dam borders with the Pongola Game Reserve, you can view wildlife from your boat. The main attraction in this area is the return of the elephant. But there are vast numbers of other game to be viewed, including: buffalo, hippo, crocodile, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, kudu, bushbuck, duiker, steenbok, hyena, cheetah, wild dog, Serval , warthog and even the occasional sighting of leopard, which roam the Lebombo mountains.

Shayamoya lodge

Shayamoya lodge is a truly unique lodge in Northern Kwa Zulu Natal where the view from the balcony is particularly breathtaking as you gaze out onto Lake Jozini, the Lebombo Mountains and the Pongola Game Reserves. Privately owned and managed by the Blevin family who have lived in the area for many years, Shayamoya exudes a warm and friendly atmosphere.

There are 8 standard chalets, which are appointed with stylish elegance. You can relax on your private deck and observe the curious behaviour of the scarlet-breasted sunbird or have a visit from our resident Spotted Eagle Owl, Nandi. Getting even closer to nature, enjoy the experience of taking a steamy outdoor shower under the stars. Each chalet is beautifully finished with attention to detail, such as the custom made basins and brass taps in the bathrooms. Well-manicured pathways link the chalets with the central lodge. While strolling from the chalets, you may come across duiker, zebra and guinea fowl that roam around the lodge.
